What to expect from deep pressure

Deep Pressure is an enhancement for clients who prefer firmer contact across more of their massage session. It is different from deep tissue work, which can target deeper structures slowly without requiring consistently strong pressure. Before beginning, Sonya clarifies what “deep” feels like to you and which areas welcome or do not welcome that intensity.

The body is warmed first, then pressure is increased gradually with broad, supported contact from the hands or forearms. Sonya may use slower strokes, compression, and sustained holds so the pressure feels steady rather than abrupt. Regular check-ins help account for the fact that one area may comfortably receive more pressure than another.

This option may suit clients who find light or moderate pressure unsatisfying and whose muscles respond well to a firmer approach. The goal is a grounded feeling and focused muscular work, not soreness or the idea that more pressure automatically creates a better result. Deep-pressure massage is available as an add-on in Graham, NC and can be adjusted throughout the appointment.

This enhancement is available as an addition to a massage session and is not booked as a standalone appointment.
